A beautiful evening to celebrate Annapolis' very own textile designer Victoria Larson and her feature in the new book, DesignHER benefiting young women design entrepreneurs. DesignHer is a collection of 33 real and sometimes humorous short stories that explain the pitfalls and triumphs these females found while growing their businesses. Thank you to the gracious hosts at Dream House Studios for an evening of inspiration, friendship and entrepreneurial spirit. We are so very proud of you Victoria!

"R.O.T.C. Right Off The Couch".
What R.O.T.C. stands for according to Charlie when we were talking about a path you should take to become a Navy Seal.
"This toilet paper is worse than the school toilet paper."
Charlie's observation after I bought toilet paper on sale.
Charlie: "Oh today we have lunch after 5th period. I hate having lunch after 5th period."
Mike: "Is that the biggest thing you have to worry about?"
Charlie: "Yeah, that…and The Purge".
Me: "Your eyebrows look on fleek today" (knowing I am saying it wrong and that there really is a word for that...however you say/spell it!).
Charlie: "No they aren't, they are thicker than my 1 1/2 inch binder".
Eyebrows have been a topic ever since his school picture last year.
Jack: "Sam is like the chick magnet. He needs to share some of his powers with me and Charlie."
Charlie: "What are you talking about? I am like 600 bolts. You are like a dead battery."
Charlie and Jack on dating.
"Peyton Manning is so old, he probably needs Life Alert when gets tackled."
Charlie (Carolina fan) on Peyton Manning being the oldest QB in NFL History to win the Super Bowl.

Last month I was hired to capture a new program run by one of my all time favorite people, Amy Reed, whose motivating message is that "strength training is empowering and useful, as well as enjoyable and 'fun' and you can 'start where you are'."
Tribestrength says..."we’re young. we’re old. we’re women. we’re men. we’re former division I college athletes. we’re former couch potatoes. some of us are strong and some of us are working on it. what we have in common is a desire to be leaner, faster, stronger, and tougher than we are today."
Intimidating as it may seem, coming from a former coach potato, Amy Reed will empower and encourage the strength within yourself you never knew existed.
A new 6-week Women's Strength Clinic session begins on 9/1. It will run t/th from 10:15 - 11:30 through Thursday, 10/8. $220. The program takes place in Severna Park in little white building with a blue door. There is no sign on the door, however inside is where all the magic begins. Amy's approachable presence and smile will be there to greet you.
Questions? Contact amy@tribestrength.com or visit, www.tribestrength.com to see about all the programs that are available to meet your needs.

Genevieve | You Inspire Me
One of the strongest women I have ever met. The first time I laid my eyes on her was a cold winter day a little over two years ago. The sky was full of clouds and a light icy rain. She was pregnant, standing at the city bus stop with her daughter wearing a thin coat. After a bus ride to an automotive store to purchase a part for her car, she returned to her temporary home, The Light House Shelter, soaking wet. She was trying to get to Virginia to visit family for the holidays, but her car needed to be repaired first. Using her community of resources, she was able to find a mechanic within the shelter who could work on it for a reasonable negotiated rate of $25. It was all she could pay him.
This was all handled with patience and grace. And a two year old in tow. In the pouring icy rain. I watched from afar, and wondered if I had even an ounce of that grace. Or patience. Or resourcefulness. How I take for granted a working car. My own transportation. My own shelter.
I find myself thinking on that day whenever I seem to think things are hard. She showed me that no matter what your circumstances, the true test is how you handle them. No matter how big your obstacles seem, your positive perspective will help you overcome all that are in your way.
Two years later, she now has two beautiful girls. A home. A job. And a new used car. All of this, accomplished with her perseverance, patience and grace. Meet beautiful Genevieve.
